Compliance Services For Law Firms
The Specialist Quality Mark (SQM) or Lexcel accreditation is mandatory for any firm working under an LAA contract. If a firm is seeking to secure or maintain SQM, the Regulation and Compliance Office has designed its solution to provide Firms with the necessary support to achieve and maintain the standard.
We work with the law firm to ensure that the necessary Policies, Controls and Procedures (PCPs) are in place and assist with both the documentation and evidence of the requirements for the Standard.
This service has been designed to assist those in the firm to identify and take the necessary actions when applying for SQM or preparing for their annual renewal or re-accreditation alongside managing the day to day responsibilities.

The Service
The Service Includes:
- Supporting the SQM Supervisors/ Quality Representative throughout the application or renewal process.
- Ensuring ALL fee earners comply with the standard and attend appropriate training,
- We will ensure that up-to-date proof of ID and Address is obtained and ready for the application (where applicable).
- Gathering of all information for the annual renewal or re-application, which happens every third year.
- Managing the online renewal or re-accreditation process.
- Dealing with any issues that arise from the application/assessment process.
- Keeping all Policies Controls and Procedures up to date and in line with the standard.
- Performing and overseeing file reviews on fee earners within relevant departments and, in particular, those handling legal aid work.
The cost of this service starts at £2500 per annum plus VAT, which can increase based on training, file reviews and general policy management. We will confirm the exact price before commencing the service.
